On 2 February 2026, ASIC announced that company extracts purchased through its website will no longer display the residential addresses of company officeholders.
The update responds to increasing privacy and safety concerns, including the risk of identity theft, cyber-crime and misuse of personal information. While the officeholders' residential addresses will no longer appear on standard website extracts, access will remain available to law enforcement agencies, government bodies and authorised parties who require the information for legitimate regulatory or compliance purposes. This change applies specifically to extracts obtained directly from ASIC’s website, and third-party data providers such as Creditor Watch may not immediately remove this information due to their own data supply arrangements or update cycles.
ASIC has described the change as a sensible safeguard that balances transparency with personal privacy. It reduces the amount of sensitive data available through the most widely accessed channel without compromising the integrity of the public registers. The reform also forms part of ASIC’s broader RegistryConnect program, which will strengthen data quality, link director IDs to the companies register, and introduce stronger identity validation processes to enhance trust in Australia’s business registry framework.
At Patricia Holdings, we welcome practical reforms that improve privacy protections while maintaining regulatory transparency. As a provider of company formations and corporate compliance services, we will continue to monitor these developments closely and ensure our clients are kept informed of changes affecting ASIC extracts, corporate records and ongoing compliance obligations.
